Reclaimed wood makes dramatic entrance April 06 2016

We’ve just come across Hotel Hotel in Canberra and we’re blown away by how amazing, inspiring and welcoming its foyer and stair space are, created using thousands of reclaimed and salvaged wood planks.

It’s a truly stunning sight (and one we’d love to see ‘in the flesh’ one day) and the brainchild of Melbourne designers March Studio who were given a brief to encourage visitors to linger, rather than simply pass through. Job done.

Much of the wood used in the venture was sourced from the site, and rather than going to waste was cleverly incorporated into the design.

The timbers are suspended from walls and ceilings to dramatic effect, while light from the exterior filters through the lines created by the planks.

Beautiful, hey?
